Teaser images of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have been around, and new reports claim that the two smartphones are going to be expensive and that the Galaxy S6 Edge will have limited supply.
Ars Technica cited unnamed folks from European carriers partnering with Samsung saying that the Galaxy S6 will be more expensive than the iPhone 6 Plus. According to the report, the regular Galaxy S6 will cost €749 ($849), €849 ($963), and €949 ($1,076) for the 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB models, respectively. The curved version of the Galaxy S6 will reportedly cost €849 ($973), €949 ($1,087), and €1,049 ($1,200) for the models of the smartphone. These prices are for unlocked, SIM-free devices. Meanwhile, the contract price of the smartphones were not revealed yet.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will be more expensive due to the bumped specs and features that will be included in the smartphones. In addition, the same source spilled that most carriers are trying to get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge since the smartphone will be released in limited quantities, although the numbers were not yet released.
Over the past week, U.S. carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile teased about the smartphone. The teaser image shows that it will sport a metal casing, which is new in the Galaxy S line.
The Galaxy S6 along with the Galaxy S6 Edge are expected to be unveiled a day before the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week. According to rumors, the two smartphones will share the same specs and features such as:
- 5-inch screen display with quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution
- Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 810 SoC
- Adreno 420 graphics co-processor
- Android 5.0 Lollipop OS
- 4 GB of RAM
- 16- or 20-megapixel back camera with OIS feature and 8-megapixel front-facing camera
- Longer battery life
However, Samsung has not yet revealed the official details of the smartphones.
