More maps will be coming out for "Rocket League" in the near future.

In an interview with PC Gamer, Psyonix President Dave Hagewood indicated that the game will soon be welcoming new maps that he described as being "crazy different."

According to Hagewood, the main reason why "Rocket League" did not start out with plenty of unique maps was because they wanted players to get a true sense of what the game is truly about. Hagewood also said that the lack of unique maps was also done intentionally so that players would be able to engage in competitive play.

Now that players are more familiar with what "Rocket League" is about, they will now be adding the new maps.

Psyonix, the game's developer, is already starting to introduce their new selection of maps to "Rocket League." For their first new map, Psyonix will be adding a map based on Utopia, another map from "Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars," an earlier game from the company. However, Psyonix is not completely copying Utopia from their earlier game, as the map coming to "Rocket League" will be rectangular, as opposed to its old horseshoe shape, according to Gamespot.

Hagewood indicated that the maps coming out after their Utopia-inspired offering will be the ones featuring the "crazy different" designs.

As for when "Rocket League" players can expect the new, more playful maps to arrive, Hagewood said that it is still too early to give a specific date, but he did say that they will be released at more regular intervals.

Update 1.04 is also coming out for "Rocket League" this month, according to PlayStation Lifestyle. The update will add the aforementioned Utopia map along with Spectator Mode and other new features.

To go along with the free update, Psyonix will also be releasing the "Supersonic Fury " DLC pack for the game sometime in August.
