Will fans finally see "Resident Evil 7" release at a major event this year?

According to Yibada, while publisher Capcom is still silent on details about the upcoming franchise installment, speculations say "Resident Evil 7" will have a mid-2016 release. Supposedly, the new title may even be launched during a major event, at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. The E3 is scheduled to happen from June 14 to 16 in Los Angeles.

While Capcom has yet to confirm or deny the rumors, confirmed details about "Resident Evil 7" seem to be coming out soon. The industry follower quoted a recent interview with game producer Masachika Kawata. Kawata hinted that they are "currently not at a state to talk about it... but please stay tuned."

This means that outside of a stand-alone event, Capcom may be targeting a confirmation of the title at the E3.

Meanwhile, observers are also saying that "Resident Evil 7" will get a proper treatment and will go back to its horror survival roots, with a captivating story as the focus. According to Movie Pilot, the development team listened to fan feedback on "Resident Evil 6" and then checked out what changes they can make to make "Resident Evil 7" as interesting as possible to players.

Former Capcom marketing head Michael Pattison stated, "There was some great positives out of that, but it was a mixed bag, as we saw from the review scores. We have got to take that on board, we can't ignore that, and we have to take that onto the next game when we make the next Resident Evil."

Some of the reviews of "Resident Evil 6" said that the title is lacking the depth of story that the franchise is known for and that the installment focused too much on the gameplay aspect.
