'Rainbow Six Siege' DLC update news: Release date, features, and leaked images revealed

"Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" is supposed to get a downloadable content (DLC) within this month, but delays have pushed back the update called "Operation Black Ice" to an early February release.

Ahead of "Rainbow Six Siege" DLC's delayed release date, screenshots of the new DLC have leaked, iDigitalTimes reported. The images were grabbed from the DLC trailer that reportedly leaked from Ubisoft Mexico. The trailer has since been taken down, but the screenshot managed to reveal a large yacht on icy waters.

More interestingly, a Redditor Fireinyoyrhole uploaded on "Rainbow Six Siege" forums DLC images of the new operatives Frost and Buck.

The images also reveal what these operatives have to offer on the table. Frost serves as a Defensive Operator who has an ability called "Welcome Mat." This allows the operative to lay out a "mechanical trap to incapacitate enemies."

Buck, on the other hand, is an Attack Operator that has an ability called "Skeleton Key." This will help equip him with a shotgun that attaches to his main weapon.

PlayStation Lifestyle reports that these two operatives are available for players to unlock. Each operative will reportedly cost 25,000 Renown or equal to $4.99 of in-game currency. Frost and Buck will be the first two operatives of the total eight teased by Ubisoft.

Aside from the leaked images of these two operatives, "Operation Black Ice" is expected to bring one new map, "a handful of new weapon skins in all tiers," as stated in the official "Rainbow Six Siege" site, and upgrades for the gameplay.

Every season, the game will introduce one new map and two operatives, along with cosmetic items and new game modes. "Rainbow Six Siege" was released back in Dec. 1, 2015 and for Ubisoft, it's just the beginning of great game experience.

"We believe this is a game that will have a long lifespan, and we are eager to continue to support the game as the Rainbow Six community grows," the company's blog post stated.

Meanwhile, the first DLC drop, "Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Black Ice," is expected to be released on Feb. 2.
