Last Sunday, Pope Francis offered a heartfelt prayer for all the victims of the most recent terrorist attacks in Afghanistan. The Bishop of Rome led a silent prayer for the "inhumane violence" to stop.
Over 95 people lost their lives and 158 others were injured after a suicide bombing attack in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul. After a few days, gunmen killed 22 people at the Inter-Continental Kabul hotel. The Taliban took responsibility for both attacks.
The Pope mourned after hearing the "painful news" and asked others to offer their prayers for everyone who were killed or injured and for the victims' families.
"Yesterday from Afghanistan arrived the painful news of the terrible terrorist massacre carried out in the capital Kabul with almost a hundred dead and numerous wounded. A few days ago another serious attack, still in Kabul, had sowed terror and head in a large hotel," the Pope said on Sunday as reported by the Catholic News Agency.
The head of the Catholic Church continued then led a silent prayer. "How long will the Afghan people have to endure this inhumane violence? We pray in silence for all the victims and their families; and we pray or those in that country who continue to work to build peace," the Pope stated.
Prayers not only for Kabul but for the entire country of Afghanistan continues on with the country jolted with a 6.1 magnitude earthquake. The quake rocked big cities including Kabul, Taloqan, and more. The tremors were also felt in some parts of Pakistan.
A young girl in the Lasbela village was reported to have been killed after the roofs of her home collapsed. Another casualty was reported in Pakistan after the tremors. An infant child died after the roof of their home in Balochistan collapsed. The baby was the only one reported dead and nine family members sustained injuries.
