Every generation of "Pokémon" games have version-exclusive Pokémon which ensures that players will be forced to trade and play with others in order to complete their PokéDex and catch all the available critters. "Pokémon Sun and Moon" will be no different, and their version-exclusive Pokémon have now been revealed.
A brand new trailer showcases Passimian, a monkey-like Pokémon which can only be found in "Pokémon Sun." A gorilla-like counterpart, called Oranguru, will be found only in "Pokémon Moon." The former is a Fighting-type Pokémon, and the latter is a Normal-Psychic hybrid.
It is currently unknown if they are tied together in one evolution tree or not.
The Pokémon Rockruff is also shown to evolve into different types of Pokémon depending on the version played. In "Pokémon Sun" it evolves into the Midday Form of Lycanroc. When evolved in "Pokémon Moon" it evolves into the Midnight Form of Lycanroc. Both are Rock-types, but both also have different appearances and special abilities.
It is also shown that players will have a more robust form of customizing their avatar in the game, such as changing hair design, hair color, clothing, and accessories. Pokémon can also be groomed this time around with the Pokémon Refresh feature.
Some of the options include brushing the fur of the Pokémon, using a blow dryer, and feeding the Pokémon some treats. The Pokémon are shown in the trailer to like the treatment, although the exact benefits of Pokémon Refresh are yet to be fully explored.
Exclusive Z-moves for Pikachu and Eevee have also been showcased, and they can only be accessed when they have been equipped with the appropriate Z-Crystal.
Pikachu's exclusive move is known as the Catastropika which deals massive thunder damage, while Eevee's is known as Extreme Evoboost in which it summons all of the Eevee evolutions to boost its stats. It is uncertain if other Pokémon will be gaining similar upgrades and corresponding Z-Crystals.
"Pokémon Sun and Moon" will launch for the Nintendo 3DS this Nov. 18.
