'Pokémon Sun and Moon' release date, news: players can now try game demo

 The Pokemon Company

The official demo for "Pokémon Sun and Moon" was launched, and while the game is just a sneak peek, gamers already hacked into its code and data mined it to get all the details that are discoverable. Several new Alolan forms of Generation 1 Pokémon and new Ash-Pikachu were among the details that were uncovered.

As reported by Eurogamer, the data mine reveals that there will be a special Pikachu that wears hats worn by Ash Ketchum in the "Pokémon" anime series. This will be similar to the Ash-Greninja that was released for "Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire" in a sense that this Pikachu will be treated as the Pikachu that Ash had in the show.

The data mine results also reveal that all of the Alolan forms, confirmed and unconfirmed, are all for Generation 1 Pokémon only.

Some of the newer Alolan forms include the Alolan version of Geodude, Diglett, Dugtrio, and Persian.

It was discovered that the game will have less than 800 Pokémon, which means the overall number of Pokémon only slightly increased since the launch of "Pokémon X and Y." In exchange for a few newer Pokémon, the game is introducing the Alolan forms of the classic Pokémon from Generation 1.

A report from IGN also reveals that some of the information indicates that the game's main Legendary Pokémon, Lunala and Solgaleo, will have pre-evolutionary forms. This may indicate they can be bred in the game. Also, there are eight super powerful or very rare Pokémon which may serve as extra bosses in the game.

The mysterious Marshadow, a new Pokémon, was also revealed. Whether it is a regular Pokémon or a new Legendary Pokémon is still unknown, but this is the first time Marshadow's design was seen.

"Pokémon Sun and Moon" is scheduled to be released on Nov. 18.
