'Pokemon Go' news, updates, tips: Kyogre added to list of Legendary pocket monsters for limited time only

Niantic Labs has introduced another Legendary Pokemon in the latest "Pokemon Go" update. Starting this week, Pokemon trainers can now have the rare opportunity to face Kyogre, a majestic Water-type creature from the Generation 3 lineup. Those who would like to catch Kyogre must form a team strong enough to withstand the Legendary Pokemon in Raid Battle, although players should waste no time as Kyogre will be in the augmented reality mobile game for a limited time only.

According to GameSpot, Niantic has already been giving hints that Kyogre will be the next Legendary to arrive in "Pokemon Go." In fact, the promo teaser for the previous holiday event featured Kyogre, along with the other 20 Water and Ice-type Pokemon from Ruby and Sapphire that were introduced earlier. Players will be able to witness the latest Legendary addition in action until Feb. 14 only, so there are only a few weeks left to gear up and participate in the nearest Raid Battle.

To note, Groudon is the first Generation 3 Legendary Pokemon introduced by Niantic to the game, although the monster is actually Kyogre's counterpart in the Ruby version. Groudon had become visible in "Pokemon Go" until Jan. 15, just in time for Kyogre to take the spotlight for the rest of the month.

"Pokemon Go" players would already know that battling a Legendary Pokemon like Kyogre requires the cooperation of an entire team. While Kyogre is indeed powerful, its Water-type nature still makes it susceptible to damages caused by Grass and Electric-type Pokemon like Exeggutor, Zapdos, and Jolteon, so it is advisable for the team to have them in their roster during the Raid Battle. Once Kyogre is defeated, players will have the chance to capture it.

Meanwhile, The Sun provided some helpful information and tips on how a team of four to five players can successfully defeat Kyogre in "Pokemon Go." For one, players should be aware that the Legendary Pokemon is a Tier 5 Raid Boss with a staggering 51,968 CP. It will take some time and group effort to weaken the monster, although capturing it is a more difficult thing to do as Kyogre floats around and keeps on hovering from left to right. Another factor is the long distance from the players, making it harder to catch. With this, players should have a good handle in throwing curveballs towards Pokemon with such erratic movements. Perhaps a good practice of throwing curveballs from the left and right portions of the screen would do before facing Kyogre.
