'Pokémon GO' news, updates: Speed lock system added to game; Appraisal system tricks revealed

"Pokémon GO" continues to receive new updates and patches that further refine the game. One of the systems that have been implemented a few months ago was the Appraisal system. This system allows players to determine the potential of their Pokémon. However, the latest patches have removed some things as well.

As reported by Forbes, the game now has a speed lock system. This new system will prevent Pokémon from spawning once the player is moving faster than 30 MPH. The report states that this was likely implemented to prevent players from playing the game while driving.

Reportedly, before the latest updates were implemented, Pokémon would still appear on the map even when driving at high speeds, albeit not as often as they would when walking. This new update completely stops Pokémon from appearing once the vehicle is moving beyond the aforementioned speed limit.

iTech Post reports that developer Niantic Labs most likely implemented this as a security feature to prevent liability issues. It will keep players safe, particularly those who are prone to playing while driving.

Otakukart, on the other hand, points out that the Appraisal system does have its uses. The system allows players to determine how strong their Pokémon can become, but it doesn't exactly reveal the hidden stats and IVs.

According to the report, the phrases told to the player determine the Pokémon's IV. If the appraiser says the player's Pokemon is "breathtaking," then it has an IV score between 81 and 100. If the appraiser says the Pokemon is not going to make much headway in combat then, its IV score is between 0 and 50.

Tapping with all five fingers also skips the unnecessary dialogue and cuts directly to the important details about the appraised Pokemon. This will help players save time when trying to appraise multiple Pokémon in succession.
