'Percy Jackson 3' release updates: demand for 'The Titan's Curse' remains

It's been almost three years since fans saw the last of the demigod, Percy Jackson, and his adventures with his half-blood friends. With all the action that transpired in the second movie, "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters," fans would easily expect that the story and epic adventures will continue. After all, the films were based on the book series of the same name by Rick Riordan.

However, according to Logan Lerman, who plays the titular character, a third "Percy Jackson" movie is "not happening." Although Lerman was certain that the next movie is not in the cards, he still expressed his thanks for being part of the project.

"It's been a great experience for me," Lerman told MTV News. "It's opened up a lot of doors for me, but I don't think it's happening."

If a third "Percy Jackson" movie would have been made, it would have taken after the title of the book "The Titan's Curse." Given the release date pattern for all previous films, the third movie would have been released last year or this year. Also, the story would have followed Percy's adventures along the way as he tries to save the goddess of the hunt, Artemis, and his good friend, Annabeth (played by Alexandra Daddario) from their captors.

Even though another "Percy Jackson" is not happening, it still helped open several opportunities for Lerman. Since his role as a demigod in the film, he has been cast in more serious roles including "Noah" and "Fury."

Still, the demand for another movie featuring gods, goddesses, and their half-blood offspring has not died down, according to Release Date Info. One fan even made a faux trailer for the next movie that made fans angry when they were led to believe that "The Titan's Curse" is actually happening.

The YouTube poster aaronmeeks made it clear that the only reason for uploading a fan-made trailer is to increase the hype for "The Titan's Curse" in the hopes that some production company would give the next installment a go.
