'Orange is the New Black' season 5 air date, spoilers, rumors: Piper and Taystee being killed off

Piper Chapman in the "Orange Is the New Black" Netflix

"Orange is the New Black" season 5 could be making major changes to the show's formula by killing off another couple of characters, including the main character, Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling). Rumors of Piper getting killed off first sparked in season 4 when Poussey (Samira Wiley) was killed off.

According to Game N Guide, the events that have unfolded in season 4 will lead to Piper getting killed and that she may even be murdered by her on-again-off-again girlfriend, Alex (Laura Prepon). They have had a contentious relationship throughout the series, and Alex eventually murdering Piper is within the realm of possibility.

The report also states that another popular theory is that Stella Carlin (Ruby Rose) is going to be the one that kills Piper. How or why she would do so is yet to be fully explored, and even if Stella is the one responsible, there is the chance that Alex is involved.

Taystee (Danielle Brooks) is also rumored to be killed off. It is rumored that she will try to do everything to get revenge for Poussey and that she may find herself getting into a bad deal. However, instead of fighting back, she'll simply allow her enemies to kill her. Her death may even be involved with the possible death of Piper.

In the report, it is further stated that if Piper is indeed killed off, then the show may be ending given that it is unlikely the show would live on without its protagonist. Very often when the main character is killed off, the show is officially ending or the show will move on but with a new protagonist stepping in to take the spotlight.

No official premiere date has been announced as of writing. However, Netflix has launched previous seasons between June and August, and it is likely that "Orange is the New Black" season 5 will follow this trend.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
