Oppo patent leak reveals bezel-less screen technology

Smartphone giants such as Samsung an Apple are incorporating the latest tech into their smartphones ranging from curved edge displays to fingerprint scanners with robust security measures and now the latest information posted by GSMArena states that Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is working on a bezel-less screen tech to be incorporated in to the company's next generation smartphones.

The website has stated that the tech firm's latest patent leak revolves around Oppo having found a way to create a far better edge to edge display experience. The details state that the new technology will revolve around a traditional rectangular display module and the company is calling it the 'special light guide structure'. While the assimilation of this form of display technology in smartphones will not completely remove the device's bezels, it will substantially reduce that amount in order to improve the aesthetics of smartphones.

GSMArena has included images in which a special curve at the end of the display is present in order to diffract light in such a manner that the actual bezel amount present in future smartphones will be invisible to the naked eye, hence allowing the smartphone to feature a bezelless display. Oppo has not stated which devices of the Chinese tech firm is going to sport this feature but it can be stated that with this patent, the company could add more appeal to its smartphones.

In addition, companies who are interested in upping the overall aesthetics of their own offerings could choose to research further in to this technology and cater to those consumers who display a severe penchant for such handsets.

The details state that the patent was already filed on Dec. 19, 2014 and the documentation will be available between in three to six months, if the process ends up going smoothly as possible.
