The OnePlus 3 has been highly praised for being an affordable yet powerful flagship smartphone, and its successor, the OnePlus 4, is speculated to be even more powerful than the iPhone 7 and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 when it launches sometime next year.
According to Science World Report, the phone will likely launch sometime between the first and second quarter of 2017, and fans speculate that it will be available worldwide in June next year. The company has yet to officially confirm this release window and the possibility of the OnePlus 4 being available outside of China.
With regards to its capabilities, the phone is reported to feature the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor or the new Snapdragon 821 processor at least. It will also feature 8 GB of RAM, making it the fastest smartphone in the market today.
This is in comparison to the Quad-Core 2.23 GHz A10 Fusion processor and 3 GB RAM of the iPhone 7 Plus. As for the Samsung Galaxy S7, it only sports up to 4 GB of RAM. The OnePlus 3, a model released prior to either phone, came with 6 GB RAM.
It is further stated that the camera will be a significant upgrade as its 23-MP rear camera and 8 MP front-facing will be using the same technology Sony uses for their high-end Xperia phones. It will also come with a 4,000 mAh battery, and it may feature the Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box.
Many flagship phones are rumored to ditch the traditional 3.5mm earphone jack in favor of the new USB Type-C port, and the iPhone 7 has been the first popular smartphone to take this step. This decision has been met with mixed to negative reception, and it is possible the OnePlus 4 will not follow suit.
When the OnePlus 3 launched, it was priced at $399, and it is speculated that the OnePlus 4 would be a tad bit more expensive. This would place its final retail price somewhere between $400 and $500. OnePlus has yet to officially confirm these price ranges.
