Nokia 9 release date news, specs rumors: Smartphone due 2018, rumored to have edge-to-edge screen display

Many reports regarding Nokia 9 have emerged over the past few weeks, although HMD Globa has yet to verify that Nokia 8's successor will be arriving very soon. As per the latest render leaks, the Nokia 9 will go with the trend of edge-to-edge full screen display.

A YouTuber known as Concept Creator has compiled all the recent reports and alleged benchmark listings for Nokia 9. Most of the information about the handset this month came from OnLeaks, but the YouTuber provided a teaser video that visualizes what the Nokia 9 would look like.

One of the most noticeable features of Nokia 9 in the video is the device's edge-to-edge display, plus the curved edge feature wrapped around it, similar to Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones. The Nokia 9 is seen to have an 18:9 aspect ratio. According to the video, the smartphone will have a fingerprint scanner positioned at the back of the device and a USB Type-C port.

The leaks also showed the Nokia 9 sporting a dual camera setup with Carl Zeiss lens. Although, based on the video, it is unclear if the handset will not include a 3.5mm headphone jack, as the concept design does not have a view on the sides. Concept Creator made the Nokia 9 renders in black and silver colors, as well as the deep blue color sported by the Nokia 8 smartphone.

As for the release date of Nokia 9, the YouTuber predicted that the handset is likely to be unveiled sometime in 2018. However, there are reports suggesting that Nokia 9 is already being developed at this moment. The recent Geekbench benchmark listing for the device reveals that Nokia 9 will run the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system (OS). With this, it is expected that the handset will feature the latest Android update out of the box.

Other benchmark results for Nokia 9 show the device powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip (SoC) with 4GB RAM. The reported RAM capacity of Nokia 9 may not be final, as earlier reports claim that HMD Global will offer higher RAM option of up to 16GB. The smartphone will also have the Adreno 540 graphics processing unit (GPU), and internal storage capacity of up to 64GB.
