Nintendo NX rumor: Upcoming system to be a home console?

While fans are waiting for Nintendo to come out with firm details on its next endeavor, the Nintendo NX, speculations place the upcoming platform to be a combination of a home console and a handheld system, merging technology behind the Wii U and the 3DS. According to SiliconEra, the confusion and speculation on what the Nintendo NX could be when it releases have been answered in a recent interview. The industry follower said that according to Koei Tecmo President and CEO Yoichi Erikawa, the Nintendo NX is a will have home console system features.

In an interview with 4Gamer, Erikawa stated a comparison between the upcoming Nintendo platform and the PlayStation 4.

"Actually, I think that it'll start doing much better. The PlayStation 4 has recently surpassed 2 million units in nationwide sales, and Nintendo announced a new 'machine' called the NX. From this point forward, I believe that each company will make clear commitments for these machines," the CEO said.

SiliconEra believes that with a company president comparing the upcoming platform with a home console system, the speculations that the NX will be a handheld system have been proven to be hearsays. However, it is unclear whether the NX will be a pure home console system, or one with handheld, mobile features.
