As NFL teams are going through their mandatory minicamps and getting ready for their training camps, free agent quarterback Michael Vick is still trying to tell everyone that he can still do it as he waits for a team that will be willing to sign him this offseason.
"I'm a proven winner. I think that I've done a lot throughout the course of my career. I've proved that I can win games and play with some consistency and be a leader. I think those are the qualities that you want in a quarterback," Vick said on NFL Total Access Tuesday.
"A guy who is confident and is going to make the team win. Make the team believe in themselves and go out there and play hard. You know I did that consistently over the course of my career. I know I can continue to do it," the 34-year-old added.
Vick started his career with the Atlanta Falcons and was one of the best players in the NFL during his tenure with the team but was imprisoned following his involvement in a dog fighting issue.
The four-time Pro Bowler made his return with the Philadelphia Eagles as a backup but would soon get the starting nod.
He stayed with the Eagles until 2013 then signed a deal with the New York Jets on March 2014.
Vick was the Jets' starting quarterback for three games and had 10 total appearances for the team but only completed 52.9 percent of his passes.
His performance and output dwindled with the Jets and now he remains to be a free agent.
Vick said he still has some football left in him when asked on NFL Total Access if he sees his career coming to an end.
"Going through times like this you kind of think about it. I know I have been playing a long time. It's been 13 years. I know I still have a lot of football left in me. You never want to think of it in that regard," he stated.
Vick added, "I still know that I have a lot left in the tank and I still look forward to playing again one day."
