Nexus 5 2015 release date and specs rumors: Unknown LG device visits Geekbench

Rumor has it that Google is working with LG and Huawei for a fresh new take on the Nexus 5. While this hasn't been confirmed yet, the existence of the Nexus 5 2015 is constantly being hinted at with obstinate speculations and leaks.

Phone Arena recently spotted an anonymous LG smartphone in Geekbench. Unfortunately, the specs that came up only left the media outlet uncertain if the device that underwent the benchmark test is the Nexus 5 2015 or the purported LG G4 Pro.

The smartphone comes with model number LG-F600L, which makes it a likely kin to the LG G4 that goes by model number F500L. The benchmark test also reveals that the device has a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor under the hood as well as 4 GB of RAM.

The mystery LG device earned points that an LG G4 would have garnered in the same test, the above-mentioned site explains. This just makes it harder to discern if the handset is the Nexus 5 2015 that LG is allegedly working on.

A previous leak from the Antutu benchmark site claims that the Nexus 2015 has the makings of a flagship killer, with the phone allegedly securing the top spot in the test with 80,000 plus points and ultimately surpassing the Samsung Galaxy S6 by 20,000 points. It was concluded that the Nexus 5 2015 had to house at least a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor to execute such slaying, especially knowing that the Samsung flagship is currently reckoned as the most powerful device in existence.

Interestingly, LG Mobile Chief Cho Jun-ho revealed back in March via Phone Arena that a device more powerful than its flagship is in the offing and he may be referring to the mystery Geekbench visitor. At the moment, it is very difficult to tell.

The Nexus 5 2015 is expected to don a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, a fingerprint scanner, a classy metal build and the unreleased 820 processor. It is slated to be unveiled in the fourth quarter of 2015, coinciding with the release of the LG G4 Pro.
