'NBA 2K16' roster update: Blake Griffin's 'Hands' rating goes down as game follows real-world events

The game "NBA 2K16" from 2K Sports is meant to be an all-around hoops sim. As a twist to the gameplay though, the publisher decided to tie the game as close to real-world events as possible. In the latest roster update, adjustments were made to Los Angeles Clippers power forward Black Griffin following his off-court injury.

According to Fox Sports, the "Hands" rating of the power forward went down from 99 to 77. While 2K Sports did not say why there was a sudden drop – and a big one at that – in Griffin's stats, the report surmised that it might have something to do with a recent altercation between the L.A. Clippers player and a team staff member. Reportedly, the two got into a heated argument, with the result being that both suffered injuries. to An unnamed source said that the confrontation resulted in the staffer having multiple face injuries, while Griffin himself suffered a fracture in his right hand.

Meanwhile, the report also mentioned that should the decrease in Griffin's ratings be the result of an off-court issue, this is not the first time that it happened. Back in 2010, 2K Sports also decided to drastically decrease the "Loyalty" points of then-San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker from 87 to 0 following reports of infidelity.

As for positive stats boosts, Stephen Curry continues to enjoy an upward trend. According to Design&Trend, the Golden State Warriors star now is one of the highest rated players in "NBA 2K16," with an overall rating of 96 – surpassing LeBron James, who went down to an overall 94.

Other players who went up in points include James Harden, now with 91 overall, and well as Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks, who added two points and now has 82 overall rating.

Aside from continuous roster updates, 2K Sports also keeps on releasing needed patches for the game. "NBA 2K16" has just received its fifth update for both the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
