'Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4' DLC release date, news: 'Road to Boruto' adds adult Sasuke and Naruto to playable character roster

Naruto from the new teaser for "Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4: Road to Boruto" DLC Bandai Namco Entertainment

"Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4" is the last "Naruto" game being developed by CyberConnect2 and Bandai Namco. The game is getting one last DLC, the "Road to Boruto" expansion, and it has been confirmed that it will be introducing the film's versions of adult Sasuke and Naruto.

Naruto and Sasuke have been portrayed primarily as children and young adults throughout the course of the manga, anime, and films. However, in the "Boruto" manga spin-off and the "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" film, they were finally portrayed as adults with children of their own.

It should be noted that the game already has the option to use the "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" costumes. However, with the upcoming DLC, the characters will be added to the roster as separate selections. This means they will have their own set of skills, fighting techniques, and abilities different from the ones already in the game.

As per Anime News Network, the first teaser trailer for the DLC showcases the adult Naruto in combat. In the video, he can be seen fighting his son, Boruto, and during this segment, Naruto uses a few combos that the normal Naruto cannot perform. This further proves that the "Road to Boruto" versions of Naruto and Sasuke are being treated as different characters.

With the release of the DLC, the story of the "Naruto" series will be complete as it now includes the ending of the anime series as well as the epilogue spin-off involving Boruto.

"Road to Boruto" will launch in Japan first on Feb. 2, 2017, and it will then launch in North America and Europe on Feb. 3. However, while the West will only get the DLC as a digital addition to the base game, gamers in Japan will be able to purchase and play it as a stand-alone title. It is also going to be made available in Japan as both a physical and digital item.
