The MSNBC New Hampshire Democratic Presidential Debate 2016 takes place on Thursday night, and with the Democratic field now down to just two, this will be a one-on-one face off between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. The debate has a scheduled start time of 9 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the MSNBC network, or online through free live stream via the links below.
Tonight's debate will be moderated by NBC News' Chuck Todd and and MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, and takes place at the University of New Hampshire in Durham.
After the Iowa Caucuses the Democratic race for the party's nomination has become extremely intriguing, with the two candidates being deadlocked against one another.
Looking at the breakdown of the way voters went in Iowa (according to Entrance Polls), it becomes clear that the Democratic party is far from united in who they see as their preferred candidate for the White House.
Among Democrats, Clinton outperformed Sanders in Iowa by 56% to 39%, however, among Independents Sanders had the clear edge by 69% to 26%.
It was no surprise that among the "very liberal" Sanders again came out on top, with 58% compared to Clinton's 39%. However, as voters moved to "somewhat liberal" and "moderate" Clinton came out on top 50% to 44%, and 58% to 35% respectively.
Among traditional voters at caucuses (so-called "past caucus-goers") Clinton won 59% to 37%. However, Sanders was the one who drove hoards of new caucus-goers to the polls in Iowa, coming out with 59% of first-time caucus-goers compared to just 37% for Clinton.
Sanders also clearly had the vote of younger caucus-goers, with a massive 84% of 17-29 year olds saying they were voting for Sanders, compared to a measly 14% for Clinton.
At the opposite end of the spectrum however, it is Clinton who came out superior, with 69% of 65-year-olds and older caucus-goers expressing an intention to vote for her, compared to just 26% for Sanders.
For New Hampshire, recent polls have been showing Sanders as coming out on top, however, tonight's debate is sure to have an affect on the end vote, and polls have not always been too accurate, as Donald Trump and Marco Rubio's showings in Iowa can testify to. So both candidates will be going all out to sway undecided voters tonight ahead of next week's New Hampshire primaries.
