Evo 2014 took place over the weekend, and" Mortal Kombat" creator Ed Boon made sure that NetherRealm had something great to show at the event. Evo 2014 is the biggest fighting game tournament that happens yearly, which makes it the perfect stage to unveil "Mortal Kombat X."
Boon took to Twitter to share the first reveal of the game: "Been working lat3 recently ... on som3thing to show at an upcoming event. #KrypticAntics." Fans of the game wondered the use of "3" in his tweets.
Moving on, a week later, Boon had an interview with Mad Catz, where he shared more information about the game to be released in 2015. In the interview, he talked about the possibility of guest characters appearing in "Mortal Kombat X" as DLC.
Boon shared: "That [guest characters] was something that was embraced in Injustice [Gods Among Us] and in Mortal Kombat," noting that Scorpion and Freddy Krueger were amongst the most favorite downloaded characters in "Mortal Kombat" and "Injustice Gods Among Us."
He continued, "I think there's a novelty to having a downloaded [sic] guest character, so, I think the chances are pretty high. I don't think every single one of them [new characters yet to be announced] will be a guest, but I think the chances of at least one of them will be pretty good." Judging from other NetherlandRealm Studios games, the other guest characters that have made the guest list are Kratos from God of War, apart from two mentioned above.
Nonetheless, there are already new characters for "Mortal Kombat X" that have been revealed. The list includes Kotal Kahn, D'Vorah, Cassie Cage, Ferrah and Torr. In addition, the popular "Mortal Kombat" character Raiden, was already confirmed to join the roster back at Evo 2014.
"Mortal Kombat X" target release date is 2015. It will come to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC.
