Celebrity death hoaxes have been circulating around the internet for some time, with Jayden Smith being one of the most popular victims in recent months. This trend has greatly concerned Corinna Schumacher, wife of former F1 racing legend, Michael Schumacher.

Schumacher has been under private recovery with his family in Geneva since his skiing accident in 2013. Very little news and official updates have since been released as the family issued a media blackout for Michael's privacy. The circulating hoaxes, however, have forced Corinna to confirm several details to put rumors to rest.

According to a report from Auto World News, German publication Bunte reported that Schumacher was slowly recovering and may be able to regain control over his movements. Corinna, Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm, and their lawyer, Felix Damm have since filed charges against the magazine for the false report.

"Unfortunately, we are forced by a recent press report to clarify that the assertion that Michael could move again is not true," explained Kehm. "Such speculation is irresponsible, because given the seriousness of his injuries, his privacy is very important for Michael," the manager went on to say.

Damm echoed the sentiment when he stated that Michael could not walk.

Corinna did confirm that Michael is still alive, but she did state that the rumors of him walking were untrue. She also explained that the false death reports were concerning because Michael would be an easy target due to his current condition, and such reports would only create a negative effect on the family and on Michael.

The family did not give further details regarding Michael Schumacher's condition. Rumors have suggested that his condition is improving while others stated that his health is slowly deteriorating, but Corinna and the rest of the family did not confirm nor deny these.

Michael remains in his family home, recovering with the aid of his family and private crew of medical professionals.

Does the Church of England need to re-think its messaging?

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
