Meagan Good on celibacy: How Christian faith played an important role in keeping their relationship strong

Actress Meagan Good had shared a part of herself in her previous relationships that somehow didn't work as how she wanted it to, but now, she has found love in her husband, producer/preacher DeVon Franklin, and she wants everyone to know what good waiting can bring to a relationship.

Good revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that she had been in several relationships in the past. "I would feel bad and be like, 'Let's try to be celibate,'" the 34-year-old beauty told the publication.

With her decision to go celibate, she would worry that her relationships won't work and her partner would cheat. But that decision to wait to have sex after marriage was fruitful as she is now happily married with Franklin, who himself had been a celibate for a decade.

Lately, the couple has been promoting their new book, titled "The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life," in which they open up about their choice to refrain from sex during their dating days.

However, being celibate wasn't that easy for Good, she recently admitted to ET, adding that it appeared to be more of a challenge to her than it was for her husband. Nevertheless, their commitment to celibacy paid off and they got married in 2012. Their wedding night marked the first time they were actually together, and the couple is now on their third year of happy marriage.

"The relationship is completely different. When you know somebody and you know their heart, it's not even a question about the physical part of it that comes into play completely later on," Good said in a previous interview.

The couple's new book is already out now and it contains important relationship advice that helped them, as well as details about how their Christian faith played an important role in keeping their relationship strong.

Good hopes her relationship with Franklin will serve as an inspiration to other couples. "In our new book, we get real and transparent, we hope it will help you in the love of your life and the life you love," she wrote on Instagram.
