The MacBook Pro 2016 has been rumored for a long time, and Apple has finally released the long-speculated follow-up to their high-end laptop line. This will be the first major update to the MacBook Pro since 2012 as all of the updates between then and now were minor such as mere upgrades to the processor.

Engadget reports that the laptop has taken two steps forward but one step back. This is because it does feature a few good innovations, but it also took away several key features, thus making it more of a hassle to use, particularly without a few accessories, which, for previous iterations, were not necessary.

In terms of where the laptop has improved, the review states that it is lighter and thinner than previous models and that it has come with improved audio quality. The Retina screen is also a big step forward due to its clearer colors and brightness.

According to the report, the 2016 model also features the fastest processing speed in the series which leads to impressive and responsive performance. The laptop is also stated to be more convenient in some aspects due to its Touch ID and spacious trackpad.

The 2016 model goes away with the traditional function keys, and in its place is an OLED touchscreen panel known as the Touch Bar. While it does allow for a more dynamic use than a traditional function key set, it reportedly raises the price tag of the laptop, which many consumers might not agree with.

This panel's keys change depending on the software that is currently running. However, the review states that it is placed dangerously too close to the Delete key, and it is very easy for users to accidentally press it when they are trying to reach for the Delete key.

However, more issues arise with the fact that many ports are now gone. The MacBook Pro 2016 does not feature a memory card slot, all of the ports are USB Type-C, and there is a noticeable lack of MagSafe.
