The release of the MacBook Air Retina may finally happen on March 9 as Apple has already started sending out invitations to its Spring Forward event.
It is expected that the main star of the event will be the Apple Watch, which was announced late last year alongside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the smartwatch will be ready for shipping in April.
According to the official announcement, the Apple Watch will be available in three variants – Apple Watch, Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition – with different prices. It is also customizable with a number of straps to choose from. The Apple Watch can be synced with one's iPhone, and it can help users to track their daily activities, fitness, and more.
Reportedly sharing the limelight at the event is the 12-inch MacBook Air boasting a Retina screen display. The laptop will be powered by Intel's latest Broadwell chip, and is rumored to pack a USB 3.0 Type-C replacing all ports in the laptop. The new processor and port will yield to a slimmer profile and lighter mass.
Rumors say that the MacBook Air Retina will have iPhone features, specifically the TouchID fingerprint sensor and Apple Pay. According to Taiwanese website apple.club.tw, Apple will extend its new payment feature in the company's Mac desktops and notebooks. Moreover, the fingerprint sensor will be embedded in the laptop's trackpad. Lastly, the MacBook Air Retina is said to have new color options similar to iPads and iPhones – silver, space grey, and gold.
Other rumors claim that Apple will announce the new iPad Pro and iPhone 6S, but the tech giant has not revealed the official details of the device or which gadgets it will unveil during the event.
