MacBook Air, Macbook Pro 2014 release date alongside OS X Yosemite in October?

New 2014 versions of MacBook Air and MacBook Pro may be headed for release this month alongside the OS X Yosemite.

Last June, Apple unveiled the OS X 10.10 Yosemite, which is the first OS X that can be downloaded and installed for free. The operating system has been in beta version ever since. This week, the Gold Master version of the OS finally arrived in the hands of the developers, which hints that the official version will come soon, most probably in the next two weeks.

The new OS X Yosemite will be working hand-in-hand with the latest iOS 8, which enables the integration of Apple's desktops and laptops to its iPhone and iPad lines. One of the evident changes will be seen on AirDrop and iCloud Drive.

AirDrop is Apple's technology that allows users to share files, contacts, links, etc. from one iOS device to another or one OS X device to another. However, Apple broke down the exclusivity among its operating systems and will now enable users to send content across systems. The iCloud Drive, on the other hand, allows users to save documents on the iCloud that can be accessed using different devices.

The Gold Master version is considered as the finished product ready for release. However, there are still some bugs that need to be combed out of it to make it's truly ready for the official launch. The perfect timing would be to launch it alongside a refreshed laptops or desktops from Apple.

Latest speculations claim that the OS X Yosemite will be rolled out on Oct. 21, coinciding with the release of the next generation of iPads. The said release date has been rumored to also introduce other Apple devices such as Macbook Pro and MacBook Air with Retina Display.

According to rumors, the new MacBook Air will pack a 12-inch Retina display with Quad HD screen resolution. The laptop will also be available in three color variants – space gray, silver and gold. The refreshed MacBook Air will also include a USB Type-C port. Meanwhile, the new version of MacBook Pro Retina will be equipped with a touchscreen feature and better battery capacity.

However, this should be taken with a grain of salt as Apple has not confirmed any of the rumors.
