For the 2015–16 National Basketball Association (NBA) season, the obvious target for the Cleveland Cavaliers is the NBA title.
Having missed that chance last season due to a shortage in manpower, the coming season should prove to be different. With Lebron James back to lead the charge, the Cavs practically have the same lineup with minor changes to it.
The only remnant still in the doldrums is, of course, Tristan Thompson who has yet to make up his mind on whether or not to accept a qualifying offer or bat for that max contract he and agent Rich Paul want. Other than him, the Cavs seem to be primed and ready.
Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving are also on the mend and could rejoin the Cavs anytime during the regular season. Of the two, Irving could be the one joining late and this could happen by January 2016.
The Cavs are expected to enter the season wiser and with more chemistry. After a slow start last season, the team is expected to be more fluid. Managing playing time among the main players will also be key, seeing that the health of its top stars will be important heading into the playoffs.
James is expected to carry brunt of the load for the coming season, especially with Love and Irving slowly trying to get into the thick of things. Head coach David Blatt is, however, expected to keep an eye on his playing time as well since James is, of course, not spared from being bit by the injury bug.
Assuming that everything falls into place, could James be primed for a fifth NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) plum? Well if the Cavs hum, it shouldn't be surprising.
James was obviously one of the players who would have won the NBA Finals MVP last season but apparently, it wasn't meant to be.
But with the Cavs having a complete and healthy roster for the new season, seeing James named MVP seems to be within reach — that is if the King could care less about it or not, since everyone knows his main focus is handing Cleveland its first NBA title.
