The first trailer for "Kong: Skull Island" debuted during the San Diego Comic-Con, and now, the studios have released the second full-length trailer. This new footage further showcases the plot, the characters, and a little bit of humor to go with the action and destruction expected in a film about a raging, giant ape.

The beginning of the trailer further cements the film in the 1970s, and a briefing reveals that it will follow several Vietnam War veterans as they head to the eponymous island. Shown in the trailer are Brie Larson as photojournalist Weaver, Tom Hiddleston as former SAS officer James Conrad, and Samuel L. Jackson as Lieutenant Colonel Packard.

John Goodman is also shown, portraying a character named Bill Randa. The trailer reveals that he is already slightly aware of the island and its inhabitants. He also states that their goal was not to map the area or explore but to capture King Kong and bring him as proof of monsters to the outside world.

It is also hinted that the group that brought the soldiers to the island is Monarch, the same organization that appeared in the 2014 "Godzilla" film. This further connects the two films together, building the franchises up for the upcoming "Godzilla vs King Kong" movie.

Also shown is John C. Reilly who, as stated by Screen Rant, appears as a former military man who has befriended the natives of the Skull Island. His character also appears to know the most about Kong and his enemies, the lizard-like giants that he refers to as "Skull Crawlers."

The report points out that these Skull Crawlers may be other types of Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms (MUTO).

One of the major differences from this trailer from the first one is the shift in tone. While the first trailer notably had a dark, war-film theme, this trailer further showcases director Jordan Vogt-Roberts' blend of humor and action.

"Kong: Skull Island" is scheduled to premiere on March 10, 2017.
