'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date latest news: Disney artist suggests popular cereal box characters to join the game

Square Enix's "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be another rare opportunity for a huge collaboration of popular Disney characters. The previous titles have been very effective in introducing iconic Disney worlds in the game's universe, as the lead character Sora teams up with a number of Disney personalities to save the world. With more Disney properties confirmed in the upcoming game sequel, a visual artist has something else in mind for the "Kingdom Hearts 3" crossover.

The "Kingdom Hearts" series has already borrowed a number of Disney characters to be featured in the game. With Disney's recent acquisition of Marvel, as well as the "Star Wars" franchise, the fans are hoping that the crossover characters in "Kingdom Hearts 3" will not only be confined to usual cartoon characters in TV shows and movies, with some suggesting the arrival of The Avengers or the Jedi council in Sora's realm. Instead, Disney artist Caldwell Tanner recently posted an unlikely collaboration with popular characters from cereal boxes.

Tanner's picture of a great crossover for "Kingdom Hearts 3" is quite quirky, with cereal characters such as Tony the Tiger from Kellog's Frosted Flakes shown to have a deep conversation with Sora. There is also Toucan Sam from Froot Loops, who appears to be breaking up with Donald Duck. The leprechaun from Lucky Charms is also present.

Nevertheless, the fans actually liked Tanner's own take on the "Kingdom Hearts 3" collab. Even as most fans on Twitter are asking Square Enix and Marvel to allow characters such as Captain America and Iron Man to appear in the "Kingdom Hearts" franchise, the possibility of cereal box characters appearing instead was positively received.

So far, the only Disney contents confirmed in "Kingdom Hearts 3" are "Toy Story," "Tangled," "Hercules," "Big Hero 6" and "Monster Inc.," although it has been reported that Square Enix has yet to announce the last Disney world to be featured in the game. More details about the last Disney world are likely to be announced in the coming months.

"Kingdom Hearts 3" will be released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles in the last quarter of the year.
