Rory and Joey Feek are both very much aware that she doesn't have much time left and that at any given time, she will say goodbye. But Joey is determined not to leave her family without knowing what to do by the time she's gone.
Even with her days numbered, Joey didn't fail to put her family in mind. According to Rory, 49, who told People in an exclusive interview, Joey felt that it is important to let her husband and their kids remember certain things once she's gone.
Rory revealed that he's been on his wife's bedside writing down notes about what Joey needs the family to do, particularly garden-related, when she's out of the picture. The 40-year-old "When I'm Gone" singer also reminded her husband to share a portion of his income as monthly tithe.
Joey was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer last May 2014. When treatment no longer worked, the country star decided to spend her remaining days with her loved ones in her hometown in Indiana.
Rory has been updating about Joey's health regularly on his blog "This Life I Live," and last week, he revealed in an interview with Today why he chose to share to the public her cancer battle.
"Honestly, there has never been a plan to share our journey through cancer with the public," Rory told the news portal.
"I started my blog more than two years ago, wanting to capture and share the personal stories and important moments in our lives that I don't want to forget ... and that's what I'm still doing. Telling our story. As it unfolds," he added.
Rory also knows that his wife's final days are all about making memories that last. He told People that they are surrounded by members of Joey's family, who visit their home to spend time with her.
"Though the situation and conditions that brought us here are very difficult, it has been a really beautiful time for Joey and all of us," he shared.
