It was previously reported that "Jane the Virgin" season 3 will see the titular character, played by Gina Rodriguez, lose her virginity, but it will also be introducing her extended family. The season will also see "Desperate Housewives" veteran Eva Longoria step in as a director, not as a guest star.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jane's grandmother, Alba (Ivonne Col), will be appearing in the season, and fans of the series will recall that she has a history just as rich and complex as Jane. The report reveals that Alba's family will be flying into the country to cause even more drama for Jane.

"You're going to be meeting people from Alba's family in Venezuela. I think that will bring interesting characters into our world," explained series creator Jennie Snyder Urman.

The report states that Jane will take a closer look at Alba's story and how she had immigrated into the country, which is expected to be full of comedic twists and turns given how the family had turned out today. Fans have speculated that there will be flashbacks with a different actress portraying a younger version of Alba.

Eva Longoria has also confirmed via Twitter that she is stepping in to direct an episode. Her post showcases the cover for the script of the episode she is helming, which is revealed to be episode 3. A separate report from Entertainment Weekly confirms she will only direct an episode but will not appear as a guest star.

However, the report points out that this doesn't mean she cannot appear as a quick cameo, perhaps as one of Rogelio's (Jaime Camil) rivals or friends in show business. The actress has not commented regarding this possibility, and as it stands, she may only be involved as the episode 3 director.

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. ET on the CW.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
