The much-awaited reveal of the iPhone 8 is expected to happen in the next few weeks. Rumors about the 10th anniversary iPhone model have surfaced online as early as last year, and the expectations from the public continue to build up. However, latest reports revealed that the iPhone 8 may come with a huge price.

The New York Times reported that the iPhone 8 will have a selling price of up to $999. This is the heaviest price tag yet of an iPhone since its first model was released 10 years ago.  The base iPhone 8 model is expected to cost $350 more than the same iPhone 7 variant.

The incredibly high price of the iPhone 8 may not come as a surprise after all because the past few years have seen the trend of the latest iPhone releases to get increasingly expensive. Nevertheless, the price hike on the iPhone 8 seems to be justifiable by looking at its top-end specs.

Business Insider stated that the iPhone 8 might be the first to introduce a full facial recognition scanner as a security feature. It will still have a Touch ID sensor, but this time placed at the back of the device to maximize the display screen area. Just like the iPhone 7, the 2017 version will boast a dual-camera.

The expected price of iPhone 8 can get you the high-end variant of an iPhone 7 Plus with the maximum storage option of 256 GB which costs $969. The $1,000 selling mark of the iPhone 8 could translate to the best features that a modern handset can offer. So far, the iPhone 8 will reportedly sport a 5.8-inch quad HD display, coupled with an all-glass body. The iPhone 8 is expected to be the first Apple device to boast the A11 chipset that will guarantee fast and powerful processing.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 8 at their keynote event on Sept. 12. After the unboxing of the unit, the iPhone 8 is expected to arrive in the market by the end of September.
