Since the rumors saying that the iPhone 7 will be released in 2016 alongside the iCar, speculations started to shift to the iPhone 6S, which could be the Apple smartphone to be announced this year. The rumors are fueled by Apple's past releases wherein it unveils a smartphone with slightly updated features after it announces an iPhone with major upgrades.

One of the probable features of the rumored iPhone 6S is a virtual reality screen display, which sounds like it is from a futuristic sci-fi movie. Apple was recently awarded with a new patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office for virtual reality headset and display technology. The Apple US Patent is numbered 8,957,835 and is titled "Head-Mounted Display Apparatus for Retaining a Portable Electronic Device with Display."

The patent described a technology that allows users to connect the iPhone on a portable device wirelessly that can be worn over the head. The new display can be adjusted according to the user's convenience.

However, it is only just to say that not all patents filed by Apple become a reality and land on its forthcoming devices. Sometimes, companies use patents to protect technology and to prevent competitors from developing it.

Aside from the said display, iPhone 6S will also pack an A9 microchip processor, a bigger RAM, and an improved TouchID fingerprint sensor and iOS 9 with HealthKit and Apple Pay. The smartphone may have lower grade specs with 4 inches screen display.

As for the release date, iPhone 6S may be announced later this year based on the previous iPhone releases. However, there are also speculations that the iPhone 6S will arrive in May or in spring this year alongside the Apple Watch. Meanwhile, the iPhone 7 will arrive in September since there are hearsays claiming that Apple will release two iPhones starting this year. However, there is no official confirmation from Apple yet.
