The Apple iPad Air 3 was expected to launch earlier this year during the WWDC event and then later in September, but it was not featured on either schedule. Despite this, the iPad Air 3 is still rumored to be moving forward, and it might reportedly launch in March 2017.

According to a report from MacWorld, the iPad Air 3 may see an imminent launch before the end of the year due to iPad Air 2 getting a recent price drop and being a part of discount sales nationwide. However, the report does point out that Apple is not one to lower the prices of their current products right before introducing something new.

This means that the iPad Air 3 might not be released until March next year, during the next Apple WWDC event. If it does, it is speculated to feature an all 7000-series aluminum body, making it thinner and lighter than all previous iPad models. With this will come 3D Touch and even an improved processor or more RAM.

However, the iPad Air 3 may also get rid of the 3.5mm earphone jack, similar to what the iPhone 7 did. It is also speculated to come with iOS 10 pre-installed, and it might have numerous updates already included.

This is, of course, if the Air and Mini lineup will not be canceled. According to the report, fans have been waiting for the iPad Air 3 for more than a year, and when Apple announced a new iPad this past WWDC, it was the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. This meant the iPad Mini 5 had been pushed back as well.

According to the report, it is possible that fans will no longer the iPad Mini 5 and iPad Air 3 as they may be replaced entirely by the iPad Pro. A small lineup of the iPad Pro may be rebranded as the iPad Pro Mini. However, Apple has yet to confirm or deny if these rumors are true.
