iOS 11.2 release date news, updates: Public beta 4 version features faster wireless charging

Apple iOS 11 preview in different Apple devices Apple/iOS 11

Apple has a lot of features packed into the latest iOS 11.2 public beta version. Staying true to their promise, Apple has finally unlocked the fast wireless charging component of the new iPhone 8 and iPhone X devices. This fast charging feature can only be accessed when using certified Qi chargers.

As reported by MacRumors, the iOS 11.2 public beta version 4 is bringing out the faster wireless charging support for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. After downloading the latest beta update, iOS 11 users can now charge their handsets with the speed of 7.5W. In the latest official update of the iOS 11, the iPhone X and iPhone 8 smartphones can also charge at 5W, which is the slowest Qi charging speed.

Apple promised before the arrival of iOS 11.2 public beta 4 that the faster 7.5W charging speed would become accessible for all later this month. It was rumored that the faster wireless charging update will coincide the launch of Apple's AirPower mat. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the AirPower mat will be out by 2018, but based on Apple's target on faster charging speed, this seems to be unlikely.

Aside from faster wireless charging, BGR reported that the latest iOS 11.2 public beta version also includes the much-awaited Apple Pay Cash. There are also some adjustments in the Control Center coupled with the update, in which the users can better understand the changes when toggling the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth icons.

The latest iOS 11.1.2 version, which is available to the general iPhone and iPad users, provides the necessary fix for the iPhone X screen. Many users reported that the flagship device's screen becomes frozen when the temperature drops. As of now, the beta version of the iOS 11.2 is only available to software developers and qualified beta testers. The exact release date of the final version is not yet revealed, although it is expected to be out later this month or early in December.
