Paul George finally got a taste of playing power forward and in the end, it seems that his mind hasn't changed on the Indiana Pacers' plan to play him at the four spot.
Of course, it was just a preseason game which eventually saw the Pacers bowing to the Anthony Davis-led New Orleans Pelicans 110–105.
And being in the power forward position, NBA fans finally got a glimpse of how George could match up against a taller opponent, in this case the rising Davis.
In the aftermath of that game, it was obvious that George's mind on the whole adjustment thing is pretty much the same — he is not comfortable at the power forward position.
"I don't know if I'm cut out for a 4 spot," George said after the Pacers' 110–105 loss to the Pelicans.
George, who is returning from a career-threatening injury involving a broken leg, had already expressed his doubts on playing the position. At that time, he had yet to try it out and see if the Pacers' strategy for the coming 2015–16 NBA wars would get anywhere.
And from what most have seen, it doesn't seem to be shedding any fruit. But then again, these are preseason games, not to mention the first one so expect the Pacers to continue trying it out (the small lineup strategy) before concluding that the whole approach is a bust.
For Larry Bird, it doesn't seem likely he would be listening for now. Not at this stage and most certainly after one preseason game.
George did say that he would be talking with head coach Frank Vogel and president Bird but somehow you get the feeling that the Pacers ploy for the coming season will stick, at least for now.
