Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev relationship, dating rumors: Ian's future is with Nikki Reed

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will end the long-running series, and fans hope that stars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev will be getting back together. However, new rumors suggest that Dobrev is ignoring her former co-star, and Somerhalder is too busy planning a family with his wife, "Twilight" star Nikki Reed, for them to even consider this.

According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, Somerhalder had already publicly stated he looked forward to having children with Nikki. However, he did point out that with their busy schedule filming television shows like "The Vampire Diaries," it would be difficult to start raising children and focus on a family.

It is pointed out that Reed is silent on the issue, and she may not be as enthusiastic about starting a family given that she may have to reprise her role in the "Twilight" series given that a prequel or spin-off is in early development.

This won't be much of an issue for long as the report does point out that "The Vampire Diaries" is ending with this eighth season. TV Line reports that the producers and writers are trying to keep Dobrev's character, Elena, relevant on the show, but there are no guarantees that the actress will reprise her role.

Dobrev did record lines of dialogue for season 7, and negotiations are being made for her to appear in the season 8 finale, presumably to showcase Elena's reunion with Damon Salvatore (Somerhalder). Game N Guide reports that this may not happen as smoothly as desired, given how Dobrev is allegedly ignoring Somerhalder.

The actress is also apparently ignoring the show in general. Dobrev posted an image on Instagram stating, "And she gave no [expletive]. Not even one. And she lived happily ever after. The end." Her post, indicating what the ending may be for Elena, also hints that she will not be reprising her role anytime soon.

Because of the cold reception towards Ian and "The Vampire Diaries," there would be no immediate chances of the two getting back together, especially with Ian aiming to start a family with his wife.
