HTC One M10 release date, specs rumors: Will HTC rename upcoming handset?

With some of its competitors said to be coming out with their own flagship releases early this year, fans are expecting HTC to do the same. While its rumored smartphone, the HTC One M10, failed to appear at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, observers say that the Taiwan-based tech manufacturer is still on track with its smartphone offering.

However, will HTC retain its One M series, and can fans expect an upcoming One M10?

According to PC Advisor, the performance of the One M9 might make the company stop the series altogether, coming out with a different branding for its upcoming flagship. Reports out of China indicate that the One M series will only have three major iterations – the One M7, One M8, and the One M9 – plus their numerous models.

Interestingly, the industry follower mentioned that there are speculations saying HTC is naming its upcoming flagship the HTC Perfume. Should the same pattern be applied (the "M7" started as a codename), "Perfume" might be the name of the next HTC premium smartphone.

Meanwhile, whatever the name of the upcoming flagship iteration will be, fans expect HTC to produce something better than the One M9. According to rumors, the upcoming iteration will have significant improvements and new features integrated into it. Tech Radar says wireless charging is one of the key features of the upcoming smartphone, along with the new Snapdragon 820 processor, at least 3 GB of RAM, a fingerprint sensor, and a brighter and clearer QHD display.

Fans have also speculated that the upcoming HTC flagship, while retaining its all-metal, unibody design, will have a sleeker and more premium look and feel and incorporate new and improved features such as an almost bezel-less display, USB Type-C port, and BoomSound speakers.

The HTC One M10 release date is rumored to be expected in Q2 of 2016.
