Rumors place the next "Grand Theft Auto" to have a 2018 outing at the earliest. To support this idea, new speculations continue to float online, saying that "GTA VI" is already in the first stages of development in order to meet this target release window.

According to Master Herald, while the 2018 release year is still a rumor, it is more than likely that developer Rockstar Games already started the ball rolling in producing "Grand Theft Auto VI."

The industry follower stated that Rockstar Games is in the habit of finely polishing a major franchise title installment, and based on previous development cycles, would take at least five years to develop the next "GTA" installment. Since the current title, "Grand Theft Auto V," was released in 2013, the 2018 release date window would only seem possible if the developer has already started in the first stages of "GTA VI."

The report added that while it is likely that "GTA VI" is already happening within the confines of Rockstar Games, the developer would most likely concentrate on the title starting in the latter part of 2016, as the developer already has its hands full at the moment with upcoming "GTA Online" expansion content. It is also rumored to be working on "Red Dead Redemption 2."

According to MNR Daily, rumor has it that the next "GTA" location will have a new location altogether, and the industry follower said that Tokyo, Japan might be the next target location. However, the map itself will be a massive one that Rockstar Games will reportedly introduce a teleportation feature for players to use to hop from one place to another.
