"Grey's Anatomy" fans were shocked when series regular Patrick Dempsey, who portrays Dr. Derek Shepherd aka Dr. McDreamy, was killed off in season 11. Fans have demanded that he be brought back in some shape or form, and the actor has now revealed whether or not he would be reprising the role for season 13.

In an interview with People, the actor revealed that he was grateful for everything that "Grey's Anatomy" had given him during his 10-year stay with the show. But it had come to a point where he wanted more control over his schedule and time, particularly to be with his wife and three children.

"I think after a certain period of time, no matter how much money you make, you want control out of your own schedule," he explained. The actor then said that: "It had been long enough. It was time for me to move on with other things and other interests. I probably should have moved on a couple of years earlier. I stayed a bit longer than I should have."

He also explained that he and series creator Shonda Rhimes had been very quiet about how they were going to handle the character's death, and this also kept the surprise element high, even for the cast members of the show. In the end, Dempsey revealed that he was satisfied with how the character departed and with what it meant for the series.

In a separate report from Cinema Blend, the actor also addressed if there were any chances of Dr. Shepherd ever coming back, to which he simply replied that the character has passed and that was the end.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 had explored the possibility of Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) finding love with someone else, and this may be explored in season 13. But as far as Dempsey is concerned, his character is no longer a part of the show.

The 13th season of "Grey's Anatomy" is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 22.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
