Google's latest laptop, the Pixelbook, is now available after having been announced in October. The new product has received impressive ratings from technology critics who have compared it to other laptops like Apple's MacBook Pro and the Microsoft Surface Book.

During its presentation, the product was described as the "high performance Chromebook" featuring functions of a laptop, tablet and smartphone. The announcement about the new product also highlighted the productive capabilities of the Pixelbook for several tasks like streaming movies, research, gaming and other daily activities.

The Pixelbook runs Google's Chrome operating system and is a laptop-tablet hybrid. People can choose between two models according to memory, the 256 GB SSD or the 512 GB SSD. The lower memory model costs $999 and the 512 GB unit can be bought for $1,699.

The laptop is equipped with 16 GB of random-access memory (RAM) and Intel Core i5 or i7 processors. To provide better access to the internet, the Pixelbook comes with a new function that allows the laptop to utilize the Pixel phone's data for connection.

The Pixelbook also comes with Google's new product — the Pixelbook Pen. The pen serves as an assistive tool for searching content, writing down notes, drawing images and exploring the device.

Acquiring the pen requires an additional $99. As anticipated by many people, the Pixelbook was quickly compared to Apple's MacBook Pro.

According to a comparison review by Digital Trends, both laptops stand out in particular elements. The MacBook Pro has a better design, performance capacity and software. The Pixelbook is in the lead when it comes to features and battery life. The publication's overall winner was the MacBook Pro.

According to T3, the Google Pixelbook is on par with the MacBook Pro and Microsoft Surface Book. The Pixelbook only has one size, 12.3 inches, unlike the MacBook Pro and Surface Book. The Verge praised Google for its confidence in releasing a premium Chrome OS product.
