The Google Nexus line of phones, including the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are going to be replaced with the new Pixel brand and the company's new "Made by Google" slogan, despite the Pixel and Pixel XL being made by HTC. The new phones are scheduled to roll out this coming Oct. 20.

As revealed on the official site, these will be the first Google phones with Google Assistant built into the devices. Google Assistant is an AI program that responds to the user, similar to how Siri works on Apple devices. It can be used to manage apps, do Google searches, and find files on the device.

Both the Pixel and Pixel XL will come with a high-end 12.3 MP rear camera which is claimed to be the highest rated phone camera to date, capable of taking crisp and clear images even in low-light due to its pixel ratio and aperture.

The devices will also feature unlimited data storage through the use of the integrated Google Drive. This will allow consumers to instantly upload photos and files to their Drive account and not worry about storage space.

An AMOLED display has been utilized, and the site states that the new battery can be quick-charged in just 15 minutes. With the quick charge feature, the phone will have enough energy to last up to 7 hours of moderate use. The Pixel and Pixel XL are both built with aluminum bodies, and there are three color options available, although consumers can opt for a customized back case.

One of the most notable things about this is that these two phones are being designed with VR technology in mind, particularly for the new Daydream VR headset. However, the devices can also be used on other VR headsets such as Google's own Google Cardbox headset.

The suggested retail price for the Pixel is $649 and $769 for the Pixel XL.
