The Google Nexus 2016, which is speculated to have been developed by HTC instead of Huawei, LG, or Motorola, the previous developers of their line of smartphones, is now speculated to launch on Oct. 4 at the upcoming Google event.

According to Forbes, Google has already made the announcement that they will be unveiling the new smartphone on the aforementioned date, but the release won't be until a few weeks later or until November. This will reportedly be the case for both the Pixel X and Pixel XL.

The report also points out that the new phones may be the official replacements for the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, the previous flagship phones from Google.

Regarding their prices, the Pixel X is estimated to cost a little over $659 and the Pixel XL may cost over $700, given that it will be a higher end phone compared to the Nexus 5X and 6P. No official price has been listed for either device yet, but they are expected to be in the same range as Apple's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

The report does state that this will be a departure from the Nexus 5X and 6P's prices, which were in the $500 range, and the Pixel phones may have increased their price range due to their aluminum and glass casing, compared to the plastic casing of the previous flagship phones.

Both phones are speculated to have 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM, a higher end 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. It is also expected to come out with either Android Marshmallow or Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box, given that they will be the new flagship phones from Google.

As stated in PC Advisor, the phones were previously labeled as the Nexus M1 and the Nexus S1, also known as the Marlin and Sailfish.
