'Frozen 2' rumors: Elsa, Anna and Olaf are not returning

 Disney

Very little information about "Frozen 2" has been released ever since Disney officially announced that it is happening. Rumors have begun to sprung up to fill the void, and the latest, courtesy of Game N Guide, states that the movie may no longer be about Queen Elsa, Princess Anna and Olaf.

According to the report, the voice actors for the three main characters have all resigned and refuse to continue working for the film. Without Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell and Josh Gad to voice the three leads, it would be difficult for the studios to move forward even if they could replace them with different voice actors.

No explanation has been given as to why the trio would depart from the project, but it was also stated that "Frozen 2" may now focus on a prince looking for his lady love. It is possible that this prince is looking for Queen Elsa, further tying the two films together even if Elsa, Anna and Olaf are not prominently featured.

However, Disney has not made any comments regarding the matter and none of the three actors have stated they are leaving the film. As a matter of fact, actress Kristen Bell had an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live (via Time) back in July stating they were simply waiting for their copy of the script to begin voice recording.

With no official statements from the cast or Disney it is possible that the loss of the three actors is just a rumor.

A sequel to "Frozen" will take some time to finish given that the sequel will need to meet, if not exceed, the success of the first film. "Frozen" had earned over $1 Billion worldwide and is one of Disney's most successful animated films of all time and working on a sequel would require time and effort to get it done right.

No official release date for "Frozen 2" has been announced, although it is expected to be released from 2018 to 2019.
