The unexpected fame of "Five Nights at Freddy's" is probably because of the rare passion and determination of the developer behind the game. The journey of "FNAF" is about to end but even then, developer Scott Cawthon will be giving the fourth installment some exciting finishing touches.
In a statement published on Steam, Cawthon said he is committing himself to provide another add-on to "FNAF 4," a content upgrade that will give gamers more things to do and accomplish in the last installment.
According to Cawthon, the upgrade will be available on Oct. 31. The upgrade will include "lots of goodies" like menu extras for those who are done with level 6. There will also be a cheat and challenge menu and a new twist on a minigame that can boost players during challenge modes. New stars to earn will also be part of the additions from the upgrade, another challenge for avid gamers.
Cawthon's statement also made mention of the mysterious box. Since the game's release last year, the box had been a source of wild speculations. Gamers even hunt for the clues that might unlock it. Some even went as far as examining the box in the coding level (proving the box is virtually empty and useless). But Cawthon is not letting the box go.
"... No one, not a single person, found the pieces. The story remains completely hidden. I guess most people assumed that I filled the game with random Easter eggs this time. I didn't," Cawthorn wrote on Steam. "I've decided that maybe some things are best left forgotten, forever."
The mysterious box might be forgotten forever, but the story of "FNAF" will probably go on, thanks to an upcoming movie, first reported by Hollywood Reporter. Warner Bros. got the rights to Cawthorn's "FNAF" and together with Roy Lee and KatzSmith Productions, a feature adaptation will be made for the popular video game.
"We're looking forward to working with Scott to make an insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable movie," said Seth Grahame-Smith of KatzSmith Productions.
