Scott Cawthon hints of a prequel storyline for the coming "Five Nights At Freddy's 4". This was the conclusion generated by the teaser image, which was released through the games official portal, Scottgames.com. The said image also suggests the involvement of animatronics in Five Nights at Freddy's fourth installment.
Shortly after the teaser's release, several redditors have released their personal assessment and theories regarding the secret contained within it. One of the first to be noticed was the barely visible line of text located at the upper right corner of the image. "Property of Fre er" is faintly written and an unusual spacing in the phrase asuggests that some other letters goes in between. A popular theory within the reddit community is that text, when completed, can be read as "property of Fredbear's Family Diner."
Fredbear's Family Diner, based on the game's lore, was the first among the restaurants opened by Fazbear Entertainment. A look back at the second installment of the game, "Five Nights At Freddy's 2," reminds us that the diner was where the child killings occurred and where the entire game series storyline started.
The image also shows Freddy's bow tie and hat, which hints of a "Nightmare Freddy in the game coming game. However, the scarier revelation within the image is the of a nightmare animatronics that is reflected on the diner's floor. Although the eyes and nose are faintly outlined, a clear picture of a jaw with big sharp teeth can clearly be seen.
Just like the rest of the teasers before it, the filename for the image reflects what game installment number. In this case, the image filename when uploaded "4.jpg," which refers to "Five Nights at Freddy's 4." Further scrutiny of the file and the page on which it is posted, reveals numerous sevens and eights within the source code of the page. This is highly linked to an in-game jargon known as the Bite of '87, in which a customer's head was bitten by a yet to be identified character from Fazbear Entertainment.
The game's release date is yet to be announced but is speculated to be before 2015 Halloween.
