While publisher Square Enix has already revealed the release date for its upcoming sequel in the "Final Fantasy" franchise, not much is still known about the new "Final Fantasy XV" title. This may change next week as it is confirmed that the publisher will hold an Active Time Report at the E3 2016.

According to a new post via the game's official Twitter account, the upcoming Active Time Report will be held on June 13 at 8 p.m. PDT. Fans who are not into the 2016 E3 trade show may still catch the real-time presentation, as Square Enix also revealed that the new ATR will be livestreamed via the official Twitch and Youtube channels of Square Enix.

The publisher has not yet laid out its presentation plans for the Active Time Report, though observers expect that some in-depth details on the new "Final Fantasy XV" will be forthcoming. Meanwhile, it is unclear if Square Enix will also announce the release of episode 2 of "Brotherhood: FFXV," in the Active Time Report; or if Square Enix has set aside a mini-event for the adaptation. "Brotherhood: FFXV" is a web anime series chronicling the four main characters of "Final Fantasy XV."

Close to its release date, it is revealed that while Square Enix has only recently announced the September 30 launch date, the publisher has already settled on the date as far back as 2013. According to VideoGamer, director Hajime Tabata was quoted in a recent interview as saying that the release date for "Final Fantasy XV" is not just a random date.

Reportedly, Tabata stated that "I wasn't the director at first, but when I was formally entrusted with the duty (in December 2013), 'Sept. 30, 2016 is when we'll release it,' was the first thing that was decided."

Tabata also revealed that the original plan is to release the game earlier as a Japan-exclusive title. However, Square Enix decided to have a simultaneous global launch instead.
