 Square Enix Active Time Report

Fans who have been waiting for some more details on the upcoming "Final Fantasy" installment were not disappointed as Square Enix provided more information on "Final Fantasy XV" in a new Active Time Report.

One of the most noted details was the announcement that Square Enix prepared a major stand-alone event for its upcoming franchise installment. Dubbed "Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV," the event will take place on March 30 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The event will start at 7 p.m. PT and will be hosted by Kinda Funny's Tim Gettys and Greg Miller.

Miller himself confirmed the event, saying on his Twitter, "I'm a 'Final Fantasy' noob. Tim Gettys loves it. The devs say XV will appeal to us both. We'll see in March."

Meanwhile, one of the highlights of the Active Time Report was the inclusion of a progress report by Square Enix. To showcase how far the development team has gone in terms of building the game up, Square Enix also showed off new combat system footage. According to NeoWin, the improved combat system in the latest ATR showcased more the cooperative team plays of Noctis and his companions and highlighted how each member's skills complement each other.

The latest Active Time Report also touched on some aspects of the gameplay. Based on the details, there will be two major magic forms in "Final Fantasy XV." Elemental magics were also present in previous "Final Fantasy" titles, and the upcoming title is no exception. However, there is a special magic in "FFXV" that will appear as the story progresses, and this type – ring magic – can only be used by whoever uses the royal ring of Lucis.

The latest information dump also highlighted a number of characters that will appear in "Final Fantasy XV," with focus on the Niflheim Empire. Fans saw some of the empire's leaders, particularly Emperor Iedolas Aldercapt and Aranea Highwind.
