Game developer and publisher Square Enix has not announced yet when "Final Fantasy VII Remake" will be released. Die-hard fans have already crossed out this year, so it could launch in 2017 or 2018. The company, meanwhile, announced recently that a remastered "Final Fantasy XII" is currently in development and will arrive in North America next year.
After Square Enix published its fiscal year report for 2016 and mentioned its plans for this fiscal year, fans were surprised not to see "Final Fantasy VII Remake" among its planned releases. Followers immediately aired their frustration with the plan of the company, and the studio mentioned that the announced game list is not a complete one. However, fans know otherwise the game could possibly be included in the next fiscal year, which is between 2017 and 2018.
In a previous report, the earliest speculated is in the third quarter of 2017, to coincide with this year's release of "Final Fantasy XV," set to happen on Sept. 30. But "Kingdom Hearts III" was announced earlier than the remake, so there is a slim chance again. This may push the game back for another year.
It has already been confirmed that the remake will arrive in a multi-parts, wherein a single part is as big as one full game. The studio mentioned before that new content has been added, which made it bigger, but old content will not be taken out.
Kotaku reported that a remastered version of the 12th installment of the game will be arriving by 2017 and will be titled "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age." The upcoming version will include re-designed character models and cutscenes. Several game improvements were also mentioned to come along, which include auto-save, shortened loading time, and a revamped turbo mode. Square Enix also re-recorded the game's soundtrack, but the original version will also be included when they release the updated copy.
For now, "Final Fantasy VII Remake" fans will have to wait for a little while before the game arrives.
