The remake of "Final Fantasy 7" could reportedly be out as soon as next year.
News of the release date came from Sony, or to be more accurate, a Sony ad inside a magazine, according to Gamepur.
The publication in question is Edge Magazine. The latest issue of the said magazine has a page that shows an image entitled "PlayStation 4 Games Calendar 2015/2016," which features a "Coming Soon" section at the bottom. In the said section, one will see the titles of various upcoming games such as "Dreams," "Persona 5," and, most notably, the "Final Fantasy 7" remake.
As of now, Sony has not commented on whether or not the magazine ad is actually showing an accurate release date for the game. It could very well be just a product of human error or something that came out of communication breaking down somewhere along the way.
All that's official for now is that Sony has yet to announce when fans might actually be able to get their hands on the "Final Fantasy 7" remake.
In related news, the combat system for the "Final Fantasy 7" remake will feature some "dramatic changes," according to the game's director Tetsuya Nomura.
According to Nomura, the changes that will be introduced to the game's combat system are going to be designed to give it a new feel, although he said they will be careful not to alter things too much, according to Gamespot.
Nomura said that even though the team behind the "Final Fantasy 7" remake wants to make changes that will represent the technology on hand these days, they still do not want to take anything away from what made the original title so popular and well-received in the first place.
Nomura also indicated that the remake will likely take at least a little bit of visual inspiration from the "Final Fantasy 7" movie "Advent Children," though he clarified that the characters in the new game will not be exactly like the ones people saw in the film.
